KUALA LUMPUR: The increase of Kuala Lumpur’s parking rate will remain following an unsuccessful legal challenge to quash it.

The High Court threw out the challenge filed by Seputeh MP Teresa Kok (pic) and Federal Territory Consumers Association president Mohd Yusof Abdul Rahman following a preliminary objection.

The objection was filed by Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, mayor Datuk Mohd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz and Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur, the respondents in the judicial review proceedings.

Justice Azizah Nawawi granted leave for a judicial review by Kok and Mohd Yusof to challenge the decision by Mohd Amin Nordin in appointing Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan to handle and collect public parking charges.

Counsel S. N. Nair, who acted for Kok and Mohd Yusof, said the court fixed June 13 for case management.
